Stop Press, Woodcote Sportive

Just read the online results from yesterdays event and I have been given the Gold Standard instead of the Silver I was expecting which is a nice surprise.

I am guessing maybe they gave me an extra age allowance or something.  I was in the 50plus age group but maybe I was more plus than the rest?

I am not arguing anyway.  Its good for my ego…  it needs all the help it can get :-)

  1. Well done Brian. I’m glad you were awarded the Gold standard, sounds like you worked hard for it.

I found your blog by searching for opinions on the Woodcote Sportive, so thanks for the excellent writeup. It’s always good to see how others’ experiences compare to your own!

As for me, I didn’t even make Bronze standard and I’m not even half your age. Ah well – it’s the taking part etc – and I honestly don’t know how some of you guys do it!

    • Thanks for kind remarks Dave.
There is no secret really except lots of miles in your legs. Being the age that I am and retired I try to get in at least 500miles a month on the bike. I just did around 55 this morning. I dont always make it because of weather or other commitments but its a good target.
Good luck in furure anyway, I am sure improvements will come with miles.
