Its been two weeks now since I went out on my bike. The weather has been far to cold and uninviting to venture out, not to mention dangerous. As previously mentioned on here though, I have been getting the miles in indoors on the exercise bike.
This is the view from the cockpit. The information I get is:-
- A view of the ride profile of the selected program moving across the screen
- Actual time ridden, alternating with :-
- Time within the exercise ‘zone’
- Heart rate, alternating with:-
- Pedal rpm
- % of maximum heart rate, alternating with :-
- Distance covered
- Projected calories burned per hour at current effort, alternating with:-
- Actual calories burned.
What you see on the above is that I have been riding for 48.46 minutes, my heart rate is 107, distance covered is 23.8 miles and and I am burning 504 calories per hour at the present rate, as I had slowed down to take the photo ! If I stop pedalling the screen goes blank
Quite comprehensive and plenty to watch. I can, if I have time look outside down the garden or watch a movie on the iPad. Its a very good workout and there is no freewheeling so also quite intensive. Hopefully the next time I actually go out on my bike I will feel the benefit. I have a good session on the exercise bike every other day.

A very nice set up, indeed. You’ll no doubt see the benefit when you get back on the road. I can’t bring myself to buy a trainer. It’s a combination of me being too cheap and stubbornly wanting to stay on the road.
I didn’t buy it and probably wouldn’t have done but my wife won it in a local newspaper competition that she idly entered one day some years ago and forgot all about until a store phoned up to organise delivery !!
